Full disclosure: I really enjoy French crime films from the 1950’s and 1960’s.  Not the most common film genre for someone to be into, I realize, and perhaps a bit odd that I’d prefer watching a decades-old black & white film in a language that I only partially understand, but I’m a big fan nonetheless.  There are many reasons why I think this little pocket of film history is so great, but right near the top is that occasionally, in the middle of suspense and action, you get something like this.  From François Truffaut’s “Shoot the Piano Player,” 1960.
